MotoGP Pre-Season update

MotoGP is set to begin the 2020 season in Qatar in 2 weeks. So far, the first pre-season test of the year (not counting 2019 post-season tests) has completed, in Singapore. At present, they are in Qatar, at the final pre-season test of the season, before they first race at the same track on March 8. Qatar is a nigh-race, hence the pre-season test is also taking place under the lights. Since the Singapore test, we have learned many things. Quartararo is fast Marc Marquez's shoulder recovery is...

The next revolution in mobile is screens

Last year, OnePlus and Asus, released two mobile phones which featured screen refresh rates higher than the every other phone in the market, 60Hz. OnePlus included phones with 90Hz screens while Asus had 120Hz screens, the latter option was directly aimed at gaming enthusiasts. This year, at least so far, Samsung seems to be following suit with their release of the S20 line. The S20 phones by Samsung went from S10s, last year, to S20s, this year. I suppose their nomenclature is following this decade. With that in...

MotoGP Pre-Season Update

Many things have taken place in the past 2 weeks in the MotoGP world championship. Somethings we expected, but others we did not. For example, we expected that Young-Gun Quartararo would be fast, and he was. We also expected Ducati had a long-shot in securing the services of Viñales; he renewed with Yamaha as we knew he would. Finally, we expected that Lorenzo would sign-on as Yamaha's test rider; he did. The surprises where many, however. For starters, for the first time since 2002, Rossi is not signed...

Zoho vs GSuite, Email - Part 2

This is part 2 of my comparison between these two suites for families. As such, my focus is on how they help address my particular use-case, family use. Email is ubiquitous, even in a time of Texting, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook. As of today, most online registrations require an email address. This is the reason email support, in addition to support for groups and aliases is very important. Below is a list of the items I compared and how they faired: Feature GSuite Zoho Comments Webmail X X...

Zoho vs GSuite, which is best for families? - Part 1

I realize the title is odd, even weird. In general, those two suites of software have been geared towards the professional and enterprise markets. So why should either of these be considered for a family? That's an excellent question. Let me elaborate. I use my own domain for my email address. I also like to stay away from free services, or free options, because free normally equates to terms of service which result their selling of my data. Facebook and Google are great examples of service providers that...

Magnets are amazing

Magnets are so amazing, they kept Einstein enthralled in their mystery for many years. How can these "things", with no moving parts, generate forces? Why does that even happen? This post is not about how magnets work. It is about how magnets can help make food easier to cook. Cooking rice can be tricky. If you don't cook it well, you end up with raw rice. If you cook it too slowly, you will have burnt rice. Of course, after some trial and error, everyone figures it out....

Star Wars: The raise of Skywalker?

I got a chance to watch the latest installment of the Star Wars saga, the Raise of Skywalker. Rather than giving you the normal movie review you've come accustomed to, I'll share with you the history of the saga. The star wars movies can be split into four categories: The original trilogy The prequel The sequels (of which this is an episode) The stories The original trilogy was groundbreaking. Until 1977, when the first movie was released (Episode 4: A new Hope), there had never been anything like...

Privacy and anonymity in the 2020s

Privacy is one of those privileges or commodities that we never appreciate until they are gone. I always find it fascinating that our entire world works around this one commodity, electricity, and we never take any time to appreciate its importance; either to protect it or even just to awe. Most of us will think, well, in a blackout, I could just use solar panels to charge my phone and laptop, and get a small stove (if yours is electric) and I'd be good, right? This is all...

A truck for a new century

Tesla has been hard at work in the past few years. While they had great initial success with their Model S and Model X, both were geared towards the luxury segment. This approach worked really well to get the marque into the minds of the American and global public. Tesla's next step was to lower the barrier of entry for their vehicles. In mid-2017, Tesla's entry model, the Model 3 was released. This was the first all-electric vehicle to have a range of over 300 miles and starting...

Unsinkable metals?

Imagine ships and boats being made out of a metal that could never be sunk. A material which even with holes all around it had buoyancy, and as such, would always floated back to the surface. First, let's talk about what makes a boat float. In order for a boat, or ship to float above water it has to displace more water than its weight. Meaning that if a boat weighs x, it has to displace water equaling x + 1. Certain vessels use this approach, plus something...
