In the US, today is Father’s day. Back in May, we talked about how Mother’s day is celebrated at different times in the year across the world. I won’t do that today. Instead I want to talk about the difference in marketing. The message for Mother’s day is to buy gifts for Mom. The message for Father’s day is to take Dad out to eat.
Have you noticed that? Or is it just me? Really, pay attention to the marketing and look at the difference. For Mothers it’s about showing your appreciation through gifts. For Fathers is about sharing in the appreciation with the whole family. Now, I’m not saying families do not divert from the marketing. Of course, many families take Mom out to a restaurant, and similarly, many families buy gifts for Dad. I’m only pointing out the difference in messaging from the US marking machine, that’s all.
Regardless of the way your family may celebrate, Happy Father’s day. After all, taking care of your kids is something you should be doing anyway…
