Good luck with your screaming

#narcissist #trump #election2020

Trump may not be a lot of things; gracious, intelligent, healthy, or presidential, but predictable, he is. So why is the liberal media so blown away by Trump’s behavior day after day. Trump is a narcissist. A narcissist is only concerned with themselves. And they only hear and see what they want. They see no fault in their actions and they hear no criticisms.

There are countless examples; from the minute, where Trump stutters, mumbles, or generally makes no sense, to his inability to get much done in terms of the various policies on which he campaigned (with the exception of the tax bill), to his inability to keep a cabinet, and so on. In none of these situations does Trump see his fault(s). They are all excusable or someone else’s fault.

Neither does Trump hear any criticism. When people boo him, as the crowds did in England in his most recent visit, he hears cheers. When people criticize him, he either ignores it (if it’s pointed), or he only hears it as praise (if it’s subtle).

And what did the liberal media expect Trump to say after the two shootings from this past weekend which a reasonable person could trace to Trump’s rhetoric? “I need to change my rhetoric…”, “The people of the US deserve a more level-headed leader…”. No, they got exactly what a narcissist would be expected to say and do. To see no fault in his actions and to hear no criticism.

All the while, this criticism towards him by the media is as effective as yelling at cancer for existing. It makes no sense, you will get sick and the disease does not care. Silly right? Agreed. Our approach for the last 2.5 years has been to yell and scream at something (Trump) that is simply doing the only thing it knows how to do.

Instead, our criticism, if we wanted it to be effective, should be directed at his enablers. To the people who do not suffer from narcissism (at least not to the terminal point Trump does). To the people that can see that their actions have consequences. To the people whose elections cannot be as easily manipulated. To the people that reason.

Let us stop arguing with a disease. That is what the disease wants, and how it survives. If we ignore it, we remove one of the lifelines it uses to feed itself. If we do not, it will consume us like cancer.
