NPD Symptoms: #2 – Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration

This is the symptom that I find to be the most obnoxious. It reminds me of a small child that requires constant attention. I imagine a baby or toddler being hungry or thirsty, and their reaction to not getting their needs addressed immediately. I imagine the need for constant encouragement as they learn to babble, pickup stuff, walk, and generally get around in the world.

Trump was elected in 2016 and he’s had more rallies post-election than he did during his campaign. Just this year he’s had 6 rallies so far. And after he was elected, in late 2016, he had 8 rallies just in December (he called it the Thank you tour). By contrast, during the 2016 election, Clinton held 19 rallies (to Trump’s 26). In total, Trump has had 64 post-election rallies so far. Yes, you counted right, already as President, he’s had almost 2.5 times as many rallies as he did when he was campaigning.

Rallies are costly and time-consuming. They require planning and money. And according to the Federal Elections Commission he has plenty of it. Trump has raised close to $100 million for his re-election ($97.8 million) so far. His closest competitor, Bernie Sanders, by contrast, has only raised 1/5 of that ($20 million). And as for time, Trump seems to have plenty of it. During his campaign he railed against Obama’s golfing, but it would not surprise you to know Trump has already surpassed Obama’s golfing schedule.

Without constant adoration from people, Trump goes into a depression. He’s never wanted to be President, this part we’ve known. He’s simply wanted to be liked by people.
