Breaking the law has consequences.

I am having such a hard time understanding how one group of seemingly similar people can look at an issue so differently. I am not talking about nuanced issues like immigration, or healthcare for all. I'm taking about an issue that to me, seems simple. The issue is the law and whether or not it was broken. I recall being a teenager and trying to get my driver's license and one of the main takeaways from that experience was "ignorance of the law is not an excuse". When...

The pressure is mounting, but will it be enough?

The drums of impeachment are getting louder and louder. Equally, are Trump's best strategies for misinformation and doubt. Trump has never shied away from less-than-truthful comments and even all-out lies. To him, all is fair. If you pay close attention, he began by relying on the oldest of his tricks; there was nothing wrong. He took it one step further by annotating it with "perfect". However, the basis of his strategy is the same one, there is nothing to see here folks. The other strategy is to demonize...

The impeachment train has taken off, but will it be derailed?

A few months back, when the impeachment rhetoric was loudest ('till that point), one of my colleagues wrote about how the whole process worked. In the article, Impeachment is heating up, but it is not the silver bullet folks think, Doug discussed the long and arduous process that impeachment is, and how being impeached is really just the first step. Trump and his advisers know this. They know the process is long, and riddled with opportunities for Trump and his surrogates to exploit it to their advantage. The...

Tit-for-tat and the Mueller Testimony to the House Judiciary Committee

#muellerreport #trump #election2020 Today, Robert Mueller finally testified in front of the US Congress. This is one of the only times I have ever heard him speak. The first time was when he held a press conference to talk about his non-appearance of this very appearance. The testimony progressed both, as I had expected, and with a few surprises. First, the democrats and the republicans both played their game. The game of the democrats was to point out each one of the facts in the report Mueller provided...

Impeachment is heating up, but it is not the silver bullet folks think

#trump #impeachment #2020 The talk of impeachment is heating up in congress and with some Presidential candidates (all democratic at the time of this writing). Most folks think once Trump is impeached, he'll be removed from office. What most fail to realize is that impeachment is only the first step in a long and political minefield. In the late 90s, President Clinton was impeached, yet he finished his term. Prior to the impeachment of Clinton, the only other President to have been successfully impeached was President Andrew Johnson....
